Torres, tambi\u00e9n conocido como \u00abEl Poeta Nacional\u00bb, era el presidente de la Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Venezuela (Sacven) y del C\u00edrculo de Autores y Compositores de Aragua (Ciaca).<\/p>\n<p>El poeta ten\u00eda 89 a\u00f1os de edad. Naci\u00f3 en Turmero, estado Aragua, el 22 de septiembre de 1927 y desde los seis a\u00f1os se radic\u00f3 en Maracay.<\/p>\n<p>Torres escribi\u00f3 m\u00e1s de mil 300 temas entre poemas y canciones, de los cuales alrededor de 400 han sido grabados por m\u00e1s de 180 artistas reconocidos, como: Reina Lucero, Luis Silva, Scarlet Linares, Edith Salcedo, Cristina Maica, Rummy Olivo, entre otras.<\/p>\n<p>Obtuvo diferentes reconocimientos entre los que resaltan: Aragua De Oro, Mara De Oro, Apolo Dorado, Amanecer Llanero, Premio Estimulo Nacional, Voz De Oro Del Folklor, El Coplero De Oro y Atardecer Llanero.<\/p>\n<p>Algunas de sus canciones han sido premiadas en los festivales Panoja De Oro, Sam\u00e1n De G\u00fcere De Oro, El Morro De Oro, Festival de La Canci\u00f3n de Las Vegas (Estados Unidos), entre otros.<\/p>\n<p>Trabaj\u00f3 en el Ministerio de Transporte y Comunicaciones durante 32 a\u00f1os ininterrumpidos, como Director de Asuntos Legales de la Inspector\u00eda de Transporte y Tr\u00e1nsito Terrestre de La Victoria, rese\u00f1\u00f3 AVN. Desde el a\u00f1o 1998 ocup\u00f3 el cargo de vicepresidente del Sacven y el 27 de abril del 2014 fue elegido presidente de esta instancia.<\/p><div class=\"tetfv69e51bd91c7f3\" ><p
