Tambi\u00e9n destruyen c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela, 17 de diciembre de 2019 (Noticias D58).-<\/strong> Tan solo dos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de que se comprobara que las m\u00e1quinas moleculares pueden abrir membranas celulares, un grupo de cient\u00edficos ha conseguido con la ayuda de estos ingenios atacar y destruir bacterias resistentes a los antibi\u00f3ticos, as\u00ed como c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas.<\/p>\n<p>Las c\u00e9lulas resistentes a los antibi\u00f3ticos, tambi\u00e9n conocidas como superbacterias, son cepas que han mutado su ADN para sobrevivir.<\/p>\n<p>La OMS considera que en 2050 habr\u00e1 m\u00e1s muertes causadas por superbacterias que por c\u00e1ncer y que la resistencia a los antibi\u00f3ticos ser\u00e1 la principal causa de muerte en el planeta.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e1quina molecular que ha conseguido esta proeza ha sido desarrollada en la Universidad de Rice en Houston (Texas) y consiste en una paleta que gira a tres millones de rotaciones por segundo cuando se activa mediante la luz.<\/p>\n<p>Estas m\u00e1quinas consiguieron perforar las paredes celulares de la bacteria Klebsiella pneumoniae y destruirla en cuesti\u00f3n de minutos. Esta cepa mutante ha demostrado una resistencia contra todos los antibi\u00f3ticos conocidos.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digital58.com.ve\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/40740446-34486197.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-90298\" src=\"https:\/\/digital58.com.ve\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/40740446-34486197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"664\" height=\"454\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digital58.com.ve\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/40740446-34486197.jpg 664w, https:\/\/digital58.com.ve\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/40740446-34486197-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 664px) 100vw, 664px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Indefensas ante la m\u00e1quina<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Las bacterias est\u00e1n protegidas por una serie de capas y prote\u00ednas que muchas veces las hacen inmunes a los antibi\u00f3ticos porque no pueden superar estas barreras.<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, no pueden defenderse de una m\u00e1quina que se le acerca y que con su paleta giratoria destruye su protecci\u00f3n natural mediante una acci\u00f3n mec\u00e1nica, y no por un efecto qu\u00edmico, como ser\u00eda el caso de un antibi\u00f3tico.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e1quina molecular consigui\u00f3 que un f\u00e1rmaco antibacteriano al que hab\u00eda desarrollado resistencia penetrara en Klebsiella pneumoniae y acabara con su labor infecciosa.<\/p>\n<p>Hay que tener en cuenta que a veces, cuando la bacteria descubre un medicamento no lo deja entrar o incluso permite su entrada para desactivarlo.<\/p>\n<p>En esta investigaci\u00f3n, la m\u00e1quina molecular consigui\u00f3 que un antibi\u00f3tico de amplio espectro, llamado Meropenem, atravesara la pared celular y destruyera a la bacteria resistente.<\/p>\n<p>James Tour, uno de los investigadores, explica al respecto en un comunicado que este resultado \u00abpuede dar nueva vida a los antibi\u00f3ticos ineficaces al usarlos en combinaci\u00f3n con los m\u00e1quinas moleculares\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Combinadas con antibi\u00f3ticos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Richard Gunasekera, otro de los investigadores, a\u00f1ade que lo importante para la eficacia de las m\u00e1quinas moleculares es combinarla con antibi\u00f3ticos.<\/p>\n<p>Lo descubrieron a lo largo de la investigaci\u00f3n. Lo primero que observaron es que las colonias bacterianas atacadas con una peque\u00f1a concentraci\u00f3n de m\u00e1quinas moleculares solo mataron el 17% de las c\u00e9lulas nocivas.<\/p>\n<p>Este porcentaje subi\u00f3 al 65% cuando a\u00f1adieron a las m\u00e1quinas moleculares el Meropenem y lleg\u00f3 al 94% de eficacia sobre el pat\u00f3geno causante de la neumon\u00eda, cuando equilibraron los motores y el antibi\u00f3tico.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores consideran que el procedimiento se puede aplicar tambi\u00e9n a otro tipo de infecciones, como las de la piel, heridas, cat\u00e9teres o implantes, que han sido causadas por bacterias como la Staphylococcus aureus (resistente a la penicilina y a la meticilina), la Klebsiella (una bacteria altamente transmisible) o por pseudomonas (asociadas a infecciones oculares y respiratorias). Tambi\u00e9n ser\u00eda \u00fatil para infecciones intestinales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>M\u00faltiples enfermedades<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00abEn la piel, en los pulmones o en el tracto gastrointestinal, donde sea que podamos introducir una fuente de luz, podemos atacar estas bacterias\u00bb, explica Gunasekera.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abO podr\u00edamos hacer que la sangre fluya a trav\u00e9s de una caja externa que contiene luz y luego reintroducirla en el cuerpo para matar las bacterias transmitidas por la sangre\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEstamos muy interesados \u200b\u200ben el tratamiento de infecciones de heridas e implantes inicialmente\u00bb, concluye el director de la investigaci\u00f3n, Jeffrey Cirillo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abTenemos formas de administrar estas longitudes de onda de luz a las infecciones pulmonares que causan numerosas muertes por neumon\u00eda, fibrosis qu\u00edstica y tuberculosis, por lo que tambi\u00e9n desarrollaremos tratamientos para la infecci\u00f3n respiratoria\u00bb, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n<p>Gunasekera se\u00f1al\u00f3 que las bacterias transmitidas por la vejiga que causan infecciones del tracto urinario tambi\u00e9n pueden ser atacadas con m\u00e1quinas moleculares combinadas con antibi\u00f3ticos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tambi\u00e9n el c\u00e1ncer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Estas m\u00e1quinas moleculares son tambi\u00e9n v\u00e1lidas para tratar c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas, seg\u00fan los resultados de otra investigaci\u00f3n, desarrollada tambi\u00e9n en la Universidad Rice.<\/p>\n<p>En esta investigaci\u00f3n, las m\u00e1quinas moleculares atacaron con \u00e9xito c\u00e9lulas de c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas en respuesta a la activaci\u00f3n de la luz ultravioleta visible, que no causa tanto da\u00f1o a las c\u00e9lulas
